Andrew Brackman Makes Long-Awaited Debut
Last night was the first night of the Hawaiian winter baseball league, the lesser of the two off-season development league. Brackman was unspectacular, but the important thing is that he pitched. In 2.1 IP, he gave up 6 earned on 7 hits and two walks, while striking out three. Brackman has an almost limitless ceiling, but he also has a very low floor. It will likely take him a few years to figure out his mechanics, due to his height. For this reason, I think he and Dellin Betances will have similar paths to the majors. Brackman is definitely capable of figuring out his mechanics becoming a great pitcher, as he is a great athlete, also playing basketball at NC State.
